K&N vs. Fabspeed vs. Schnell cai
Are all three basically the same? Which one is the best in terms of quality/sound/ease of installation. I know there has been a lot of bashing of the K&N but are the Fabspeed and Schnell any different.
I have decided not to add the EVO to this list because it is in a different price range.

EVO is the one you should go though.
K&N is a piece of sh*t which costs less at initial purchase. However, you stand a fair chance it will blow your MAF (ABS and CEL ligths will light up on your dash). After replacement of the MAF, total cost for the K&N will equal the EVO, and you'll still be stuck with an inferior product.

Evo is more expensive, but from the discussions that I have read it seems to be the best.
I have have good results with the EVO system on my 986. My 996 has the stock intake.

You are not going to get any additional performance from neither of them especially in the lower rpm range. The sound might change a little, but to get the full thrill you need to couple the intake with a performace exhaust.

EVOMS is more expensive and in a different price bracket for a reason. It is in a different quality, performance, build, satisfaction, sound, and smile bracket!!!!!

I agree with the comments about the evo unit. I had a k & N unit, and although I liked the sound, and the car in fact felt peppier, I had a blown maf sensor within a few months. You should also know that the fabspeed and schnell intakes are essentially the same, and provide much less in terms of sound and performance increases, as they do not employ a different free flow filter, and basically all they do is provide a quicker intake route for the air to get to the throttle body.

Mufflers can at least give you better sound & less weight.
I love it when the STI & Evo crowd talk about all the power they make. These are the same guys at the track that only do a few laps or sessions and then spend the bulk of their time with the hood up and/or under the car while I do lap after troublefree lap...

Is it possible to put a GT3 intake from fabspeed on a 996 C4? Seems like the larger air filter would do a lot more than just plugging the intake muffler. Would it even matter?
