Regarding your car not being detailed upon trade in the answer unfortunately is, it depends. If it's just hasn't been washed in a week and maybe driven in the rain then no, to a trained pro, it really shouldn't make a difference. If it's been a few months and the wheels are really dirty, the dirt is hiding the true condition of the paint, etc. then yes it will hurt your trade in value. The fear is that underneath all the dirt is paint in poor condition, scratches, bad swirls, scuffs, chips, poor touch ups, pitted wheels etc.

I have bought 2 machines from Carmax (not porsche), and I have sold 3 cars to them. The ones that I sold to them were just about what I owed on the cars if not very slightly above. Again, not porsche products.
Once, the person helping me explained to me about the process and that the value offered is based on demand country-wide for a specific item. If there are a lot of people looking for a specific model year car, they will offer you more to buy you out.
When I was looking for a 911, it seemed like all they carried were Boxsters.
The normal dealers here have told me more than once to take my car to them for trade in.
