Dual Tips
#31
I like the look of the tips.... granted mine stick out more than they should... since they are from an '02+ car and mine is a '00. I did get them for a good price though, (free!) so i don't care about them sticking out.

I never changed mine for the exact same reason as tooloud10....I mean it is RIDICULOUS for the price!
I was going to to check out my ghetto muffler shop and have them fabricate some tips for me. What the heck is the dang difference? When is the last time you guys went to pep boys? They sell some pretty OK stainless tips...who would know? I dont mind spending money on stuff...but yeah I am 100% with tooloud10...when I saw the "perfect" dual tips I wanted..and saw that they were $750??? FOR TIPS!!!
my stockers looked so perfect!

These things really are over inflated. Let me know how it goes with the muffler shop manufacturing. Might be less to have one weld them up then have them re dipped...

I've noticed that some on eBay appear to attach by slipping on and tightening with a screw. However my stock tips appear welded on to the exhaust. Anybody do it themselves or is this a muffler shop/dealer install? Am I missing something obvious?
Thanks
Thanks

Your suggestion is to save $200 and go with ebay tips that don't look right (as referenced in a previous post) and may or may not fit exactly (as Porsche manufactured ones are guaranteed to do).
If that's what makes you happy, go for it. Nothing wrong with that.
Like I said, horses for courses.

I'll inquire again: "

To you guys that don't like the dual tips, why don't you start your own thread and quit wasting our time.

the stock tips are bolts and clamps - no welding. it's a clean install. the issue will be that your old tips may well be rusted on (my bolts were) the clamps will likely need replaced (mine did) and you may even need to torch off the rusted bolts (needed that on one of mine).
So, getting them off can be a pain, but fitting the new ones was literally slide them on and tighten them up.

Interesting, when I had my fabspeed exhaust installed I didnt pay attention to the process of reattaching them. And I was just under there for a while when I flushed my coolant..... How observant I am not!

Here are mine....custom made and installed at AAA Muffler in LA....you can get a good muffler shop to do it for a few hundred installed....
I think what B Choi is saying is that the exhaust cutout on the narrow body and wide body cars is slightly different. The narrow body cutout is more round, and the narrow body is more oval, so the tips seem to follow the contour of the cutout better, in his opinion. I see what he is saying, and its slight...I like them either way.
