Default flywheel queastion

Has anyone had any experience with Spec Single mass flywheels? I'm looking for a good product for the 996.

my shop installed a ltwt fw and clutch, test drove and it rattled in some low rpm situations.
since i wanted no noise, i sucked it up and put a dmf, which is much improved over the 964 days.

Almost all of the LWF flywheels out there are actually manufactured by one company, AASCO. There are a couple that aren't ( Fidanza comes to mind ) but most are exactly the same (assuming non-GT2/3 or TT car which are potentially different). I love my LWF. I replaced the DMF with it and could not be happier. There is a little rattle at idle with it in neutral and the clutch out but nothing that I can't live with. It has significantly improved the driveability of my car ( 99 C2 daily driver ). Has also made the clutch engagement *much* more predictable. I got mine from FVD as their price was decent and their customer service was great.

Viper, did you use a different clutch and pressure plate with the LTW FW?

Arnee, nope. While new, I used an OEM clutch and pp. Some may suggest using a sprung hub clutch instead of the factory rigid hub. I chose not to. Having the sprung hub can take up some of the 'shock' to the driveline but introduces a part that can break with potentially expensive consequences. I don't do 6000 rpm clutch drops so I didn't really care.

Thanks for the reply. Won't a sprung hub clutch may also get rid of some of the chatter from the flywheel?
