Extended Warranty & CPO

Extended Warranty & CPO
All,
I need a bit of advice. When I bought my 2004 40th Anniversary 911, it came with 18 months of CPO coverage. I opted into an extended warranty contract with the dealership for $4K which gives me I believe up to 5 more years or up to 85K miles (my car currently has 17K miles). I am considering cancelling the extended and just use the CPO. When the CPO is about to expire, I can reassess the need for an extended. Am I about to make a bad choice cancelling the extended if I already have CPO.

I wouldn't buy an extended warranty on top of the CPO. Unless you have a catastrophic engine failure it would be very unlikely to spend $4k in repairs. So you're taking a bit of a chance but $4k is too much.
But I am surprised at that amount. Have you shopped around or negotiated? I would think a warranty could be had for about half that amount.

i have a 04 C4S and still has about 6 mos of orginal warranty on it. Been shopping around for extended warranty from a few dealers in SoCal. i would say 4k is a bit high. so far average is about less than $3k for another 4 yrs/50k miles, give or take. just my two cents.
