Default To paint the splitter or not........

That is the question.....

Has anyone here with the MK1 aero kit had their splitter painted to match the car? I'm looking at this piece and can't decide.......

If it was the black piece, like the cup splitter... simple decision... leave it black... The factory splitter however is a dark grey color and I'm not convinced it will look right if it is not painted.....

Lastly, the car is lowered and I fully expect that this piece will be replaced in the 1st 6 months it's on the car....

Does anyone here have pics of this piece on their car?

The paint will only be temporary at best. That piece scrapes all the time! Even at stock ride height.

My splitter is painted white. I have no problems with it scraping and I have a ROW030 kit (I was a lowrider in my younger days, so I know how avoid scrapes)

When I went to order the MKI lip from the dealer they asked me for a paint code for it so I assumed that it came body color...but I ended up going with the MKII lip instead.

That said I keep mine off for street driving. Install it before visits to the track.

GMG's site shows it paitned body color if you're looking for a reference.

On the (RoW mk1) GT3's it was left unpainted - so it was black.

I still haven't installed mine yet, but I kind of like it as is (black) on my silver car.

he said his wasnt black, it was grayish. I say paint it black or body color, depends on the rest of your car.

Mine is still black as it disappears under the car

My car is pretty low and will be going lower, so I do not want to take it off and put it back on just to drive it on the city steets and motorways, and I would rather have it on to give me a audio indication that I am close to something I am driving over (not at speeds of course just in parking lots etc.). So leaving the $75 lip black makes sense to me.

If your car is a show car then maybe paint it to make the car look even lower, but IMHO the lip sits back and looks weird painted. If the lip was one that actually protruded out from under the front bumper then I would consider it, but with my colour combination of Yellow and Black I would probably leave it black.

Now as the first post of this thread stated it is dark gray, actually mine is black.

If you paint it then you might as well have a clear bra put on it also.

Leave it unpainted.

It's easy to scrape, so painting it would just make it look worse than unfinished. Mine scrapes on my driveway frequently.
