Default bumper cover paint costs

any guidelines on how much it would cost to paint a 996 2000 bumper cover to match silver? A ballpark number is all I need...

Thanks!

depending on where you are.
I can get it painted here in FL with OEM paint for 250, where you are in NYC without knowing anyone, maybe 500.

RBARNA,
If any prep work is needed and/or bumper needing pulled for paint, expect $700 to $800. That was my price in Dallas TX,

I just had my car in the bodyshop recently for a door damage job.
I asked about the bumper, and was told if I removed the bumper for them,
they would paint it for about $250, that includes some prep work on flaw spots.

I recently got a few estimates to repaint my front bumper, and it was generally low of $7xx to high of $1000. Cosmos I'm moving to Florida.

+1.

My quote came from a Porsche dealer that has their own body shop, so there was no markup by them passing it off to another bodyshop for the work to be done.

I thought that they had misunderstood and wanted to sell me a new bumper when they came back with that number!

I was quoted $636 yesterday, by a Porsche dealer here in Denver, for the prep and paint of a new rear bumper cover('01 996). That does not include installation or the replacement part cost, of course. The good news is that the new cover does not have holes cut in it for the US rubber bumpers that flank the license plate. The aluminum carriers for the rubber bumpers were very easy to remove - secured only by three rivets each. So, having a Euro style look will help to lessen the pain a bit, I hope.

I take it that none of you are too concerned with color matching?

I've talked to a couple of reputable body shops over the years about repainting various panels, and always got the same story - that they would have to go beyond the panels and blend the paint into the rest of the body. For example, on a dolphin grey A4 I had, my son had accidentally gouged the paint on the passenger side rear door. I was told that they couldn't just repaint the door, that they would have to blend it in to the surrounding body - rear quarter panel and up the b-piller.

I ask because I'd eventually would like to swap out my non-aero front cover for an aero on my 996 (zenith blue 1999). But not if they's have to blend into the hood and front quarters.

Ahhh, the joys of having a non-metallic color!

I was told by more than one body shop that they don't blend the black into other body panels.

RandalJ...you are correct. That was what the bodyshop did when they repainted my door and rear wheel arch.
The guy told me he had to blend the new paint onto the next panel that didn't need any work!
I was sceptical, but he explained that is the technique to minimize any contrast of new and old paint.

Well...as for the front bumper, he did quoted me $400 at first. Then I asked, what if I removed the bumper and brought it in?
Then he said it would save me about half. So...I didn't really think about the blending and matching of the color...
