I too am in Fairfax VA; I have been going up and down Rout 28 four days a week with a plate in the window. I got one warring for aggressive driving but don’t think he say the plate. I see state and Fairfax police all the time, and have not been messed with yet, but I don’t have a NYC girl in seat. At last weeks inspection I was asked way I didn’t have a plate, said that I needed a USA mounting bracket because the German holes don’t match us plates. By the way, while driving with my Korean female passenger I have had no trouble with the police.

Prog, your car looks fantastic. Moreover, the front bumper is unreal. If you drill holes in it, you've just lost it. Stick with suction cup method. Or move. Florida doesn't require front plates either.

Default I told her so!

My friend from NYC came down to DC again for the weekend. I told her to rent a car this time. She did -- she got a Ford Taurus, a totally nondescript car. Well, she didn't even make it out to the Dulles access road without getting pulled over -- TWICE!

She kept nagging me to put on the front license plate on my car and I kept telling her that it was not the lack of a plate but that she was somehow a cop magnet. I guess her encounters with the Five-0 at the airport proved my point. (Of course it was not a happy victory because now she is a bit pissed at me for being right.)

I've been running 6 years w/o a front plate and only 1 ticket aside from DC parking enforcement. A Fairfax (maybe Loudoun) told me it was not acceptable to have the plate in the front window. It's attached or nothing.

I live in Fairfax county and also got a ticket for no front plate. But mine was $125. Are you sure it was $82? I just got pulled over again a couple weeks ago but this time the officer gave me a warning.

Ya, it definitely looks like a squirrel. Think of the $82 as the price you pay to keep the car looking clean. At least you are paying for something.

Maybe you could look at some of the special plates that VA offers and see if any of them are black. I know some states have a D.A.R.E. plate that is black.

Yup. $82 paid online through the Virginia DMV's website. They sure make paying fines quick and easy.

What clear plastic material did you use? I have tried using a piece of clear plastic tubing but it does not like to bend around the corners, maybe it was just to large of a tubing.

Thanks in advance.
