I hear you on the Bimmer. While I have a regular 3 series, I have NOT driven it once since I got the 996. I should get out and start it up so the battery doesn't kerplunk on me. It goes back in September to the leasing company.....wish it were sooner.

My kids LOVE plopping in the back of my p-cars....I feel much more comfortable with them in the 996 with shoulder restraints than I do in the '85 Targa.

I have had Bimmers since '99.....I think I'm done with them for a while. There really is no substitute.

...and probably the reason it was sold out from under Tim --

Sorry to hear this Tim - anytime a dealer doesnt want a deposit, it only means they are seeking a higher sale price.

I have bought many cars from private parties who make deals on handshakes but I always insist on leaving a deposit, getting a receipt that outlines the payment total, terms etc. that outlines the balance of the transaction.

Shame on that dealer, whoever it is..

I bought mine in late Feb of this year. I had been looking for awhile and just decided to take a day off work and BUY A CAR! So I started driving around So Cal and ran into this car about 90 miles from where I live. Was the only C4S on the lot and really looked nice. Of course no CPO and no existing warranty also high 50K miles but super clean. Seemed to have a very heavy clutch and of course went out 3 weeks later. All-in-all, I built service and clutch into the 51.5K price and walked away with a sweet ride. I don't mind high miles especially in LA because everything is so far away. I figure the guy drove it 50 miles each way to work (very common here) and never bent the car in any way. I immediately put X-73 on it and ordered new wheels and tires - BINGO! an instant success. Now thinking about selling it and moving to a 997.................?
