Question Targa screen bow

Dear fellow Targa owners,

There is a metal bow that supports the overhead screen... this broke on my 03 Targa... Any ideas on the part number? My local pcar dealer is clueless.

Attached is picture for your reference and parts catalog from Sunset Porsche. I am thinking it is 19, but I am not sure, nor is Sunset. Any ideas?

TIA,

Bill

By process of elimination that 'appears' correct to me, but just count me as an "I think you're right" vote, not a definitive yes. Good luck!

Okay, so I just heard back from the dealer. Here is his response...

"Bill,

#19 is the same one that we chose and flew in, but they are not correct. The clips in the repair kits are too big. Part numbers for the repair kits are 997 562 913 00 & 997 562 914 00, they are
ones that Porsche chose as well. So I will send another report back to Porsche, and hopefully they can helps us out.

Thanks for your patience
Shawn (Lyle Pearson Porsche of Boise)"

Did they order 997 parts?

What a mess!

Thanks,
Bill

I went and looked at mine... there are two different bows. I looks like you broke the middle one not the forward one, is that correct? If so I don't even see the part pictured in the diagram you posted. Are you sure that the bow end won't simply slip back into the bow?

swmrdrn,

You are correct, it is the middle one. It looks like there is an insert that goes into the end of the bow that rides on the rail. That insert has broken off and what I am looking for either the insert for both sides or the complete assembly.

Thanks again!

Has the insert broken off the bow and the rail? If it still works on the rail side I would think about putting a little epoxy on the insert and sticking it back into the bow.

Good idea... Part of the conditions of purchase were that they fix this...

I will use that as a last resort.
