'99 C2 Pricing
My brother is looking seriously at a '99 C2 Silver/dark gray in CT, with 10K miles on the odo and has "been in the rain once." Car has supple leather, manual, stainless steel package (handbrake, shifter, exhaust), Hi-fi/6 disc, and listed at $74K. The car is cosmetically perfect and he's been offered the car at $35K. Says it looks and drives perfectly. Private seller is buying a 650i BMW. I advised him to get PPI done, but the car is not warranteed. Reasonable price? I saw the red/tan '99 posted earlier this week with 64K miles at $29K. My bro is an impulse buyer, and loves the car.
Tim, I know "This Post is Worthless Without Pics" - I'll do my best to get a couple up.

IF the car checks out (PPI) and he really wants the car, the only issue to me is the mileage. Just over 1k per year seems awfully low. Cars are meant to be driven (I am trying to consider who I'm talking too LOL). There are a lot of cars out there, but if it is the color combo and options he wants, I'd say the price should probably be closer to 32k.

The 35K sounds like a pretty fair deal given the low miles. I agree with the PPI recommendation and he may want to research the cost of an after market warranty PRIOR to buying the car.

Sounds like a good price to me. I bought a '99 with 38k mi 6 months ago for $29k from a dealer. Condition good, but not perfect. There was another with 48k mi available at the same price. Neither had any options. Those were the best two deals I found in the country in the couple of months that I was shopping. I would have bought the car you described.

Sounds like a nice car, but my instinct is that it should be a few thousand closer to $30K
Phil - pity that you couldn't have joined us yesterday - you would have gotten the front all covered in bugs (like mine) and that would have given you an excuse to detail it again.

Very good point!
Well, I guess I worked under the assumption that Phil liked to polish his paintwork a lot, but didn't get that much action from it.
... to paraphrase... all polishing and no play makes Phil go blind.

FWIW I paid $35K two months ago for a seal grey/black leather 2002 C2 with 39K miles. I'd say it was a 9.3 out of 10. NO PSM, light carbon fibre, 18 inch liteweight wheels. I love that car.
Anyway - closer to $30K for a 1999 would be more appropriate I think. Plus the low miles would worry me too. Seems to be a consensus on this board that parking these cars more than driving them correlates with a higher occurance of catastrophic engine failures.
