Default Looking for advice on purchase of a C4S

I am a current MY 2000 Boxster owner (for 7 years) and am currently looking at a 2003 Guards red / Black 6 speed 996 C4S with 15,700 miles. It has the Bose 12 speaker sound system and heated seats along with all the other goodies that are standard on the C4S. and brand new tires. The asking price is $61,950 There is about 1 mo. left on the factory warranty.

Sounds good so far. Right? Here are the things I'm not sure if I should be concerned about.

1. It has had 2 previous owners. The first is listed on the carfax as a "Corporate fleet vehicle" That ownership lasted until 7000 miles and 1.4 years.

2. According to the carfax At 7500 miles it had the transmission replaced (I would assume under warranty) at a delaership in colorado

3. The second owner was a lease as well from 7500 miles to curent.

the carfax is clean, no reported accidents or title issues and it appears that all service and maintanice was performed by the local porsche dealer in Denver Colorado. The seller, Is an an independent shop.

Is there anything here that I should be concerned about? Thanks in advance.

I'm on the same boat (refer to my 'Deal or No Deal' post).

You've got some choices in AZ...here are a couple of dealerships I've contacted there....

If you browse thru these forums a bit, you'll find that people are getting some great deals on C4S's lately (leases are up on 03 plus model years). Good Luck!! This is the fun part.

I'm in the market too, though have decided to go with a TT over the C4s. I found what looks to be a very clean 2002 C4s with 14K miles, guards red over black, for private sale in Texas. He's asking 51K, but might go lower given that the car has been listed for a few weeks. I emailed the owner, and he said the RMS was already done under warranty.

Here's a link to the listing on autotrader:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ice=&cardist=0

If that link doesn't work, PM me and I'll PM back with the seller's name and email.

Good luck!

If you are concerned with the condition of the car because of the transmission issue, I don't think that's a big deal. If the unit was replaced...I would view that as a positive. Price seems a bit high though....if you really love the car...you should be very aggressive in your negotiations. You will be able to knock a few grand off for sure. CPO is a monster plus....look at that recent thread involving an engine replacement.

Best of luck,
