Default Traction Control

Did most of these cars come with the traction control option? Mine is a 1999 C2 that came with it.

Mine is a 99 tip. It doesn't have traction control either.

99 C2 and it has limited slip and traction control. I think you have to look for the option codes 220 and 222 to see if you have them. I guess I lucked out because I didn't specifically look for it when I bought the car.

I have option codes 220 and 222 also. What is the advantage to having the limited slip? Is it similar to a posi-trac rear?

Stupid question: By traction control, do you mean PSM? or are they animals of a different sort?

Not stupid......early cars were not offered with PSM (I dont think), just
traction control.

As far as I know....the early cars required special orders for the 220 and 222 option codes. My 99 has a rocker button on the dash that's labelled "TC". It defaults to the on position, but if you want to run without it, then when you press it the button lights up. I know that some of the guys would rather not have it, but my thinking is that if you have it you can always turn it off, but the reverse doesn't apply. There have been previous threads discussing the merits and demerits of having this option. All I can tell you is that it saved me from a potential wreck one time in a rainstorm. I remember seeing the traction control light up on the dash and the car straightened out. After that, I have deliberately tried to get it to light up by harsh maneuvers, but I couldn't get the car sideways....and truthfully, don't want to get too damn aggressive just to prove a point.

I'm not sure if Porsche even offers the 220 option without the 222....they seem to go hand in hand.

So, since my car has TC, then it (most likely) has LSD as well...??

My car has 220 and 222. So I should think it has Limited Slip along with the TC. But when I have the back end of the car up, I turn my rear wheel one direction and the other side spins the opposite. Also, at Turn 2 at buttonwillow, I notice I spin the inside tire like crazy before my weight evens out and the outside grips more.

Is something wrong with the LSD? or does the LSD on my 996 work differently than on other cars? Maybe it doesn't have LSD after all?
