More good news. Warrantydirect.com is sending me a refund of $1400 for the unused portion of the warranty. So, when all is said-and-done, I'm getting $51400 for the C4S.

Default Thinking of buying Gant's C4s from the dealer

OK, so I was back in the market for a 996 (my deal on one fell through Friday due to no PSM on the car) and responded to an autotrader ad. Low and behold it was Gant's car!

I was about to offer him $50K, but he decided to trade for this TT. Just called the dealer and told them I'm interested. They are in the process of trying to get the car CPO'd.

So here's the question. How much do you think a CPO is worth? I have already talked to a few other private sellers and there are definately some clean 2002 C4s available with low (under 20K) mileage for around $48-50K. Should I offer $52K on this car, knowing it's really clean and will have a CPO. My guess is the dealer will want more.

Any thoughts?

So are we going to take bets on their starting asking price?

This will be a fun one to watch, considering that we know what they paid for it.

Yeah, but what they paid for it and what they "really" gave for trade-in based on what they were into the Turbo is the real number we need to know. That would be million dollar insider info. Regardless, I'd offer 52K (the "50" they gave Gant and 2K for the CPO).

....must resist......must resist.....no talk of pricing........must resist.......

they will list it for $57-59k. probably can't get too much off. the problem is, as long as someone is willing to pay that amount (which is likely), knowing what they paid will do no good. btw, CPO typically adds $2K.

I agree with you, but the question is whether they do.

I'm betting on a price north of $54K

The problem is we have NO IDEA what they would have let the Turbo go for without a trade-in. That's magic number. I have no doubt if somebody walked in tomorrow with 52K and hgave them 24 hours to decide they would take it and still be making money off that deal AND the deal Gant closed.

Yup, $57-59 is more like what they'll ask, but I was afraid to say it.

...well, if we say that they let the Turbo go to Gant for $52K and they were asking $70K, then by that logic, they will ask for closer to mid-sixties for the C4S.

Actually you are going the wrong direction. By discounting the TT to what they would let it go for they would have to decrease the trade-in by that as well. That would put it in the 40's. Remember the magic difference was 15K out the door. So they let the TT go for ~65 with a 50K trade-in. So, if the TT would have gone out the door for 60K which I have NO DOUBT it would then the trade-in would have been 45 or less.
