Default Center Console Storage Tray

Can anyone tell me if the Center Console lower Storage Tray will fit in the CD Storage compartment?
If I buy a storage tray for the lower compartment, is it the same size as the one to replace the CD storage tray?

Thanks!

No, they are not interchangable. The upper storage tray is rectangular (I have one). The lower tray is tapered and is slightly narrower on the bottom.

Upper tray 996-552-253-01
Lower tray 996-552-243-01

Thanks Tim!
I knew I should ask first, the seller on ebay told me they are the same and will fit.

Where did you order yours, and how much is it?

Cos - I got mine at the dealer for about $31. They actually had it in stock. I didn't have a copy of the PET at that time so I didn't know the part number. I just described it as the "tray or shelf to replace the CD holder."

To remove the CD holder, simply open all of the CD drawers, grab all of them at the same time, and pull straight out. Slide the storage tray in and you're done. It takes approximately 11.72 seconds!

11.72 seconds, if only Porsche would charge by the second....My bet is the lazy person would pay them 1 hour labor plus parts. I guess I am a little slower than gota911 since it took me about 1-2 minutes but of course that included figuring out how it was attached!

Let me get this straight - the dealer sells a useful replacement for the idiotic CD holder, and it's only $31?? Can it be?? I want one! Does someone have the actual part number?

Someone does, and they already posted the part number for it. Just reread the thread again carefully.

I see it...the numbers are close together - looked like the Matrix code to my tired brain!

Tim--Does it come with a nice rubber lining on the bottom, like the smaller lower bin?

We stock both, and yes, they come with rubber shelf insert.

We can also paint them for you any color, finish, etc.

Eric, I don't see it on your order list.

What is your price, including shipping? Beat the dealer?

I got mine from sunsetimports.com - I don't have the PN but they know what the item is.

would one of you guys mind showing a photo? I'd love to see this installed. I hate the CD holders. I googled the part number and found links to posts at various sites, but haven't yet found a photo - if I find one first, I'll post it here. Thanks, and Happy Friday.

Cosmos, you have mail.

We do not list every item on the order page since it's not a commonly requested part, but we do offer nearly every factory part, below list.

Email me anytime: eric@bumperplugs.com

Sorry no pic, but it looks exactly like you think it does. It is sized so you can put three CDs, inside their jewel cases, in the slot "the wide way" and they stick out a little less than an inch. Alternately your wallet and celly will fit with room to spare. There is a knobbly rubber mat that goes on the bottom to prevent rattles, and it's sloped downward enough that nothing's coming out (as long as the car is right side up). It's a factory match for the plastic as well. I have no idea why it's not in every 996. It's $30, so just buy it.

Good advice - will do...
