93 Octane in AZ
Hey,
The inside of my gas door reads a formula and = 93. Im assuming this is for the octane of fuel. I only ever see 91 octane and this is what I use. Should I be using additives or just 93 octane fuel? Will 91 octane damage things. Weird to say coming from turbos where 91 was necessary minimum!
Thanks

Michael,
Did you purchase your white Turbo from Oralndo in Miami?
Where in AZ are you at?
There are a few 100 octane spots that I go to for track days and stuff, but I usually use the 91 in my car.

From: Boulder, CO : 12 Square miles surrounded by reality.
There's a lot of places in the US where 91 octane is the highest available (Colorado's the same way).
However, my owners manual (pg 177) states:
So there you have it. 91's OK although 93 is preferred. Even 90's OK. The ECU adjusts.

However, my owners manual (pg 177) states:
Your engine is designed to provide optimum performance and fuel economy using unleaded premium fuel with an octane rating of 98 RON (93 CLC or AKI). Porsche therefore recommends the use of these fuels in your vehicle.
Porsche also recognizes that these fuels may not always be available. Be assured that your vehicle will operate properly on unleaded premium fuels with octane numbers of at least 95 RON (90 CLC or AKI). since the engine's "Electronic Oktane TM knock control" will adapt the ignition timing, if necessary.
