Default Windshield cracked

Little rock hit my windshield and had a couple of cracks the size of a quarter. Safelite guy came buy to try to repair it and it cracked further... ergo, need a new windschield.

What should I do... have the dealer do it, safelite?? $500 deductible on my insurance, so guess that will be gone.

Any advise??

Ask the dealer who they would recommend. That's what I did. The guy showed up and did an excellent job.

+1 The dealership most likely sub the work to a screen shop any way, so just find who they use and go direct.

I had a similar occurrence.

Repair guy working on a rock ship then cracked the screen in two!

As my car insurance covered rock chip repair for 'free', I just called them up, told them I was having the free rock chip repair done as per their policy, and that this had led to my screen being totaled.

They covered the full cost of a new screen and fitting at a pro shop - it did not count against my deductible.

Worth checking your policy, and making a call to the insurance company.

With Geico I have glass repair/replacement with no deductible ! I recently had the windshield replaced on my A6 - safelite did it and I have had no issue. I have a few small spider cracks on the 996 and believe they are getting bigger, thus, Geico to the rescue - I don't see a reason not to use safelite/

It's pretty typical to have free glass chip cover on auto polices - you just have to ask

Call your issurance agent and explain that when the Safelite guy came buy to repair it and it cracked the windshield further. See who they have worked with. My wife's MB CLK had a cracked windshield and I took it to South Charlotte but, unfortunately, I can't recall the name of the shop. I looked in my "auto repair" file and did not find an invoice. Sorry!
