Default License plate screws - silly question?

My car has none...do I have to get them from the dealer, or is there a standard size that I can buy at any hardware store?

I just use any good-looking screw for my cars. There are some plastic ones as well.
Just paint the top of the screw head with a small brush when you are done.
Some licence plate frames come with mini plastic plugs for the screws.

If you plan on buying any aftermarket plate frame, they all come with new screws along with decorative caps that will hide them.

If you drive it correctly, the license plate will blow off along the way, making the lack of proper screws irrelevant.

Actually Ive done quite of bit of research on aerodyamics, physics and quantitative mathematical vacuum analysis. If you in fact drive the car "correctly" the air pressure from the vaccuum created by airflow over, under and around the bumpers of said vehicle should hold the plate in place if 107.6 pounds of inertia is maintained or the equivelant of 69.331 kmh.

I've heard that works by stretching carbon-carbon bonds, making them more maleable and allowing greater adhesion to the bumper... oh yeah, and it adds 10 hp.

I bought some from the dealer, figuring that the thread pattern would most likely match the existing holes. It worked.

If you buy some from a hardware store, you might pop for stainless screws so that they don't rust.

Actually the max hp produced is 9.3 hp at the highest curve in the rpm band.

You nutty guys!

My car came with the mounting plates, with screw holes, but no screws. Any idea on the size/width I need?

PS--Depending on the shape of the letters on a particular plate, you can gain a few HP. Example, the letters I, L, and T are all good aerodynamically.

...better to be nutty than screwed.

As for aerodynamics, the curvy letters are more aerodynamic.

stainless steel screws are so much heaver, get the titanium they dont rust either much lighter, though they cost more, but they are a great performance mod

Do all of you have front plates at all times?

If you can tell us what state you are from and whether anyone ever gets in trouble without front plates....I would love to not have a front plate.

I am from Washington state: where front plate is (unfortunately) necessary and all the P-cars, sports cars, etc. look like Bugs Bunny with the front plate looking like giant incisors from a distance.
