Default 2003 stereo

Searched the forums and can't really find a definitive answer for my specific priorities.

What sort of pain is one in for if one has a 2003 that has essentially nothing but a single CD stereo in it from factory. Would like (in priority order)...the mandatory list ends at "Sub"

- Aux in for mp3 player
- Better speakers
- Sub
- New head unit
- Sirius satellite
- MP3 CD

I've had a quote of about CA$1600 to replace speakers/sub locally but specifics weren't given.

What are my options for head units? From what I gather if I want to replace the entire system (which it appears I do) I'd have to gut the entire thing. True?

Brock - do an Advanced search on "threads started by User" and then enter Newport996. He had a great write up on his replacement of the entire system.

Your big obstacle will be the optical connection from factory head unit to factory amp in front trunk. Wiring from speakers to factory amp is the usual OEM speaker wire. So...

- Aux in would require Dension unit or new head unit or FM modulator
- Better speakers could be done easily if you're OK with factory wires
- Sub: Now you're going to need a new amp/head unit so job is getting bigger
- Sirius is easy with Dension or wired-FM modulator. Check out my pic on the recent v1 remote display thread
