While I have you here, for paint shops who is the absolute best in the area? The trick is I want someone who uses Glasurit. I've got a standing appointment at Import P&B.
Marlin - email me. Depends on what is being painted. Import does a lot of the high end stuff in town, but there are some smaller specialty shops that might be another option.
Email me what you are painting.

I had a very thorough PPI done at a shop called "911 shop" or something like that (I remember that "911" was in the name). My memory sucks. Up on Independence Blvd somewhere.

Was it 911 Shop at 6721 Orr Road? If so, it is just off Old Concord Road according to MapQuest. I have never used the shop, I just looked for it on the Yahoo Yellow Pages.
Yeah I'm starting to think that maybe a PPI isn't even necessary now that I know the seller is the President of the local PCA chapter...he just needs to move on price a little and my friend will pick it up. Though the Carfax did come back a little, well not dirty but definitley stained.

And I don't dare cast aspersions on the PCA chapter president, who I don't even know the name of, but just because he's president doesn't necessarily mean that you should trust him to sell you a nice used car. PPI is still a darn good idea. Doubly so if the Carfax is not pristine (and I'm curious to learn more about that).
Best of luck,
Michael
Carfax has a few things. First, the first "owner" was actually two owners, with the second one being a dealer who bought the car at auction and never registered it himself and drove it for 2 years, I guess to avoid taxes. Second, the car has a Not Actual Mileage registration, though it doesn't look like a rollback since that registration was granted one year after the last service before it, and the whoever registered it added 10k miles to what it had (10k miles per year being about average for this car). Third, it has a notice about some front collision repair, but there is no mention of a police report. Since Carfax normally trolls the police reports, to me that says it was probably just a bumper repair, i.e. something not worth mentioning to insurance.
On the other hand, I'm told (and they have the paperwork for this), that upon picking up the car they took it to the local mega-dealership and had them go through the mechanicals and fix everything that was wrong.

Could the "not actual mileage" notation be because of an odometer repair or replacement?
And if the collision repair was not "mentioned" to the insurance and there was no police report, then how would Carfax have found it? Repair shops don't report to Carfax (or anyone). I'd bet there was an insurance claim. A good body man should be able to look at the car and tell you what was repaired and how much was painted.

Yeah, I'm thinking the mileage thing is an odometer repair.
Body shops actually can report to carfax (carfax will pay them to do so). We took a paint meter to the car and checked the panels (before ever running the carfax), none of them appeared to have been painted. That's why I'm thinking bumper - didn't check it because it's plastic. I think he'll get it checked out though.
