Well maybe through this list, I'll have a chance to discuss P-car with you over a plowmans' lunch at some theme pub in SoCal, I'm heading over there soon. (I was transfered two years ago but delayed it a little bit). Moving to Temecula, Working in LA...

It's as close to drawing blood as possible in Tucson to get guys to enjoy their cars out here.... "Oh Mount Lemmon is hard on my suspenion" Kitt Peak is too far. Etc. Etc.

I would hope there's a good pub out there. I'm Canadian but was schooled in the arts of Pubs near Guilford, Woking and Windsor.

No that sounds like a great plan!

There are a couple of English pubs in San Marcos, South of Temecula on the 15, and a really good selection in San Diego itself, including the Shakespear's just across from the airport.

Nice plowmans and some decent English beers

Your commute from Temecula to LA could be awesome - Ortega Hwy (74)

One of the best twisty routes in SoCal

Give me a shout when you're here, and we can arrange a local Porsche welcome

Gives a nice wet look gloss which is very hard wearing and easy to keep clean.

Chris.
i used a scratch remover called quixx, suppose to be one of the best, but i used the #1 & #2 step lotions, no sandpaper, but it left a very dull & hazy spot on my car that i can't bring back the shine, does anyone have any suggestions, someone had told me he thought i took the clear off, do you know how to bring it back, i've already tried waxing, buffing, & even a clay bar, but it still has that hazy dull spot in it!

I've had good luck with Griot's Garage products. Machine polish with a random orbital polisher, followed by a good waxing works very well.

+3 on Griots, has improved the look immensely, will do it again soon. Claying was so simple, and I had never used that before.

Does the claying process help take out the swirls or is that done with the polisher?

Correctly using a clay bar only lifts off surface contaminants. Using one incorrectly can add lots of scratches. In either case, you will need to use some sort of scratch/swirl remover and/or polish to remove the fine imperfections.

++++ on Griot"s. Just spent Fathers day doing what I wanted to do. Wash, Clay, Polish, Wax. What a difference. It was my first crack at detailing. The orbital was great. Sorry no before or after pics but the swirls on my DD are gone. My wife even was amazed at the mirror reflection.

Just to update - since this thread started, technology has moved along - and I now use a paint prep polish and sealant from Autopia from their Ultima range.

http://www.autopia-carcare.com/ultima.html

Even easier to use, and the results have been excellent and longer lasting.

Same 986 and 996 as before:

Their Paint Guard Plus is easier than the Klasse sealant to apply - just takes 10 mins once the polishing is done - and no buffing.

Lasts a good 6 months+ as well - even with daily use and weekly washing.
