I had problems with my first generation EVO CAI. It caused the CEL to illuminate. It also caused the car to occasionally stall and surge at constant freeway speed. I replaced my MAF thinking it was the problem. It was not. ArizonaScott told me that there were problems with the first generation EVO CAI. I put on my stock airbox and the problem was solved. I hated to drive my car without the sound of the CAI...it makes more of a difference then my B&B mufflers and headers. I bought a used second gereration EVO CAI from a fellow Rennlister...no more problems and I love the sound.

Default CAI

Can't speak to my 996TT but in my other vehicles...never had a problem. On two vehicles...I got a check engine light for a couple of hours until the ECU "Fixed itself" (Don't know of any other way to describe it) with the new information it was receiving.

I noticed improvement every time with mine and had no problems.

Can you or anyone else elaborate? I just bought a first gen EVO used but haven't put it on. How many people have had this problem and did EVO ever give a reason or a solution to this problem? Thanks

donuts, I would give it a try. If you don't experience any problems, then you should be fine. The problems may have been unique to my non e-gas tiptronic car. It did not take out my MAF. ArizonaScott told me about the problem. You could pm him or call EVO directly. Good luck. Please let me know how it works. I will not sell mine to anybody without disclosing the problems that it caused me.

Ben: You should hear it with the CAI and the MKII muffler conversion....awesome. Gota911 talked me into trying it out....and I really like it.

Mark has the CAI with a Billy Boat muffler....and it sounds really awesome. The CAI amplifies the sound. The only real problem I see is that to get it to sound off, you have to get on it just a tad bit....and I find that the local motorcops are attracted to the sound.....sorta like a moth to the flame!

btw, what's the proper filter cleaning method on the evo v-flow cai? do i oil it or just vacuum it periodically?

Christ Fletch....you're going to start a run on these things with that clip!

Guys...guys.....it's not quite that loud...

Benjamin:.......The MKII is actually a mod that is designed to emulate the PSE wide open sound....so I would imagine that your exhaust sounds absolutely fantastic.

I know that Loren over on RennTech runs the PSE open also, and I've heard his....it's great!.
