Have you thought about flushung the coolant throught the rear drain plug? Use VW pink antifreeze with dionized water. I did it to mine and it smells like a new car.

Update- I replaced my cap with the new one, and no leaks (again) for about 2 weeks. Then, lo and behold, two small puddles behind the rear wheel. So I finally replaced the tank (bought from Sunset and had my Indie do it), and since then, I've driven about 1,500 miles, no loss of coolant, no drips, level steady on max line. I thought it was the cap initially, but turns out it was indeed the tank.

Sounds like a lot of people are getting cracked tanks right after new caps...is the pressure holding in and cracking these things??

Kind of hard to say that the new cap "causes" the coolant tank to go. I had the same issue...replaced the cap, then three weeks later came out of a shop to find coolant pooling under the left rear. Because of all the similarities in both failing within less than a month, I think the evidence more or less strongly suggests you replace the tank along with the new cap. I'm not a big believer in coincidence.

I actually think that most people replace the cap "first" hoping it will fix the problem....all along the tank was already cracked & just got worse,
This is what happened in my situation.

I agree. That is probably what happens in most situations.
