Default EVO shift linkage how much hammer is too much?

I just received the B&M SSK and EVO shift linkage, everything is going well up to the point where I am trying to get the EVO linkage onto the B&M shift ****. How much hammer is needed to get the thing on? I'm afraid I'm going to break something....I'm searching the forum for an answer until someone can clue me in. Thanks.

I hit it with a dead blow plastic covered mallet and then it snapped on. Owner was holding the shift tower on it's side when I gave it the wack.

Thanks, I went out there and placed on a table upside down and gave it some good smacks witha five pound sledge, nothing near smacking it with someone holding it. It's not damaged and popped right in, when I hit it light, you could feel it slide on but then pop off. Shifts really nice. I only had a chance to drive it for ten minutes but i know I'm going to enjoy it.
