if anyone is near newport beach with a 997 cab you can try my hardtop....we'll see once and for all if it works or not....

Maybe I could slip down there sometime.

I have a hardtop for my 06 997S cab and I ordered it from the factory that way. My understanding is that the roofs are shared between the 996 and 997s in an attempt to save on some reengineering work. But, as stated above, the problem is the cost of putting in the corresponding mounts into the 997.

well i was wrong
the tops are the same have the same part number
the mounting hardware and the inserts are diffrent 997-996 and the rear seal has a diffrent part number 996-997
suposedly though a 05 c4s or turbo hard top will bolt onto a 997 straight up
