Here's an answer to the CARB issue...
Get an 'address' in Montana. NO SMOG checks. Heck, all you need in MT is a VIN number; no safety check, nothing.
We now have life time registration for cars over 11 years old. It costs about $150.
An interesting tidbit - There are almost as many motorhomes registered in Montana as there are people!
