Default Window problem, Advice needed

This issue relates to the feature that automatically drops the driver window a 1/4 inch when you open the door and puts it back up for a good seal a split second after the door closes. All of a sudden I've noticed that as soon as I let go of the door handle, the window goes back up so that when you close the door, it doesn't seat properly. I then have to drop and re-close the window.

Anyone run into this before ? Is there a way to reset the settings or do you think a relay is defective ?

Thanks in advance.

Ramp.

Is your battery low? I have seen this problem on my 986 with a dying battery.

I don't think so. No other issues and the alt gauge is indicating norm.

I've also seen issues with the window dropping when the battery was a bit low...but I guess maybe it's not the case here

I too have this issue. I took it to my indie shop and they "re-calibrated" or "synchronized" the windows and it got a bit better. But I still get it from time to time. When I take the car back for it's annual maintenance, I'll have it looked at again.

I would love to hear what might be the cause. The passenger side does not do this and my battery seems fine.

Hold the window button down for 10 to 15 seconds, I think thats the time? In both directions to recalibrate it.

I would bet on the regulator, it is a pretty common failure. I replaced mine following this link:

Default Update

I'm bringing this back as I just had my window issue fixed (under CNA Warranty - see the aftermarket warranty thread) - psyched

My indy got the problem on the head - the issue, at least with me, was NOT the regulator but a switch in the door locking mechanism. I have the part and will post a pic later. Not sure if it's a DIY fix for me, but definitely should be for others.

I have to go look at the receipt but I think the price to repair (to the insurance co) was around $300.

FWIW
