Default CPO Warranty eligibility...?

If a car is bought anywhere other than from a P-car dealership, and said car still has Porsche Factory Warranty left on it, can it still be CPO'd, even though it was bought from other than a dealer.

Yeah, I just tried. No way, no how. But the P dealer would happily sell you an extended warranty. Had some joker at the finance department try to sell me 7 years for $7,000.

It would transfer if sold by a Private Party and NOT a Dealer.

I was just told by a Porsche dealer that my CPO can't be transferred when I sell my car - I thought it could and I now need to do some homework.

The link below will take you to the section on Porsche.com that has the info on CPO...it does say it will transfer to a Private Party:

I agree Transfers only on sale to private party. Void when it hits the dealership.

One way is to have the P car dealer buy the car and resell it to you for the cost of the CPO certification, plus a little extra for their time and energy....now this is if your car can be certified...your car could not have been in an accident, must be completely up to date on all services, have more than 50% tread on all tires, more than 50% brake pad and rotor life, more than 50% clutch, plus alot of other visual checks, and diagnostics. It also must have less than 50k miles on it. If the car needs NOTHING it may costs about $1,500 for the certification. If you need a clutch and brakes, then the price goes up....the dealer shouldnt mind doing it as they make a sale in the used car dept. and sell a warranty, and usually this looks good on the books. Try and talk to the used car manager, not just any sales guy. I have heard of this being done with people buying a car from a private party, and the dealer buys the car and sells it to the end customer with a warranty and makes some cash as well....when you start to think about all that, its sometimes easier to just buy a CPO car from a Pcar dealer from jump, and you may actually make out better on the deal...I did.

Thank you - it's unsettling to know that I've been misinformed again by a service manager at a Porsche dealership.

Man that would be an expensive warranty in my area since you would have to add in sales tax and transfer fees if you had to buy back your car from a Dealer.
