Default Wheel fitment for r-comps.

Before I go ahead with the purchase of r-comps, I want to get some thoughts on whether my tires will fit.

I am thinking about getting a set of sport design, 8x18 in front and 10x18 in the back, and I am looking at the Nitto NT-01s. There is no problem in the front as OEM is 225/40/18. In the back, the OEM option is 265/35/18 or 285/30/18. I looked at the Nitto NT-01 wesite and they have a 275/35/18. I don't think width will be an issue, but diameter might be. According to Nitto, the O.D of that tire is 25.55 inches, versus MPSC 265/35/18 of 25.2 inches. However, I think I also see a lot of people running 315/30/18, and for MPSC that O.D. is 25.5 inches. I know the speedo will be off, but these will be track tires only.

I found a post by gota911 (Tim?) stating that the 275 should not be an issue, but in that post the OP does not have a PSS9 lowered car and asking more for street use. I also found a post by mooty back in 2004 stating that he ran 225/40/18 and 275/35/18 Toyo RA-1. I don't have enough posts to send PMs yet, otherwise I would just shoot a PM over to mooty and ask him. Would someone be kind enough to let mooty know about my question? I guess I am wondering if a difference of 0.4 inches is neligible (within 4%?), and had anyone run 275/35/18 r-comps before. Being able to run 275/35/18 will allow me to run NT-01 and Toyos, which I love.

Thanks!

I have been running RA1's in those sizes mounted on Carrera 5-spoke lightweights. I have been happy with them for the most part. My only complaint is that with the 275 RA1 rears, my car's acceleration felt sluggish compared to my street tires which are 285/30-18's.

Fitment-wise, I had no problems with my PSS9's set very low.

Do a search on the Nitto as I have posted ALL kinds of data on inflated diameter between the Nitto NT01, RA1, MPSC, PS2. FYI....I am running 245/40/18 F and 315/30/18 R on my GT3 in the Nitto NT01.

Thanks! 225/40/18, 275/35/18 it is!

Just bought a set of turbo twists solid spoke as track wheels... they are heavy as heck and are not in the best condition (pretty scratched up), but for the price I paid I can't complain!
