Hey.
My name is Cory and I'm currently a 2002 Acura Nsx owner. My Nsx is fairly modified all motor, but I'm getting the itch for more power and am in talks with a dealership to try and buy a 996 gt3 2004 model.
What's reliability/maintenance of this car like? I have never had a single problem with the Nsx, and am somewhat scared of Porsche reliability because I've never owned one before.
What's the potential for power increases? I've seen a chip, and drop in filter, but limited other choices.
I tend to get bored of cars if I can't modify them, tweek them some, wether it be intake/exhaust/headers/suspension, etc. What are some of the performance upgrades that you guys have done/power added ?
I value your input as owners and am looking forward to your responses.
Thanks.
Cory

Cory,
Welcome to Rennlist. You might get more responses if you posted this on the 996 GT2/GT3 Forum. On the left side of your screes click on Water Cooled to find the GT3 Forum.

Yeah Rennlist has some really wacky (ie stupid) catergories... ex. all 911's from 1965-89 are included in 1 category, and all 924's 944's and 968's spanning years 1976-94 are also included in 1 category, but then early boxsters even (97-0x) and late boxsters (0x-07) have their own seperate forums, and then the Cayman (which is just a boxster with a roof) has it's own seperate category as well. Then we have 996's coupes cabs and targas all together (oh except the gt3..that's special
), but 997's which are only 5 years apart from 996 and shares much of the same components has it's own forum. Then we have the turbo forums, like 996 turbo...but wait GT2 not included...why? because it only has 2 wheel drive and slightly different turbos?, no that makes no sense b/c the 996 board includes both 2 wheel and four wheel drive, as well as 3.4 liter and 3.6 liter engines??? The Gt2 shares the same forum with the GT3 (which has nothing in common but a crank case)...WTF? It seems to me that it's all about snobbery because there really is no cohesive reasoning behind it all, and the fact we have a 996 GT3 owner asking questions here sort of proves how stupid the whole system is.

Wow! You have some anger issues you want to talk about?
Just playing. Anyway, the forums were created by John and constantly evolving over time to accodate the differences. Sometimes, I don't really understand them either. But hey, we live with the hand we are dealt with right?
