I am currently doing mine as we speak, I will post pics when I am done. The rear console is going to be a PITA. I sanded the "matte" finish of the plastic down until it is smooth (400 grit sandpaper), then applied a black trim paint (made for the exterior so it is very durable). My car is savannah(sp?) beige, I have painted the center console and ashtray/window controls panel. I will be doing the A/C vents, ignition surround, hazard surround and the seat control panels. Trying to decide if I want to do the instrument cluster surround also.

It has came out very good so far.

To my knowledge the consoles should be the same....I just bought an extra console on ebay as mine was scratched then I mentioned to my paint guy who was doing my 02+ facelift that I had one and was thinking about painting it...he said bring it in...so I did and he took care of me....

I bought some extra parts on Ebay and tried it myself. It was difficult to do, the paint and prep is expensive, and I didn't do a very good job. I ended up not putting any of the stuff in my car, so it collects dust in the basement. I wish I had gotten Eric to do it, and I may still. I did most of the interior parts so I wound up spending as much as I would have with Eric I'm sure. I repainted this lower console 4 times. I finally got the shine I was after, but there is a run on the top right side that I just couldn't live with.

It's not a good picture, but you wouldn't want it in your car. After seeing that black one in this thread, I think I would rather have that than Arctic Silver. I didn't think it would look good to do body color on a black car until I saw that picture. Not sure about the upper console or other trim pieces, but the lower one looks pretty sweet. I have a ton of interior parts to practice with or ship them off to Eric

There is a covering that sand paper just eats right off. I have no idea what the covering is. It's actually easier to paint one of the old Boxster charcoal gray consoles than the newer ones with soft touch feel.
