What are the sizes and offsets of your 997 wheels?[/QUOTE]
I dont know the offset off the top of my head, but they are a factory take off. I believe that a 15mm spacer up front would make it look right just right. They sit in more than the 996 factory wheels.

cohare,
Looks like your car is a 3.4L.
So, you had 7.5"w 50et fronts and 10"w 65et rears factory fitment.
If your 997 "Carrera S" wheels are from a C2 (997C4S rears have diff offset),then,
Your current front wheels are 13mm closer to the strut, and 1mm further inside the fender lip that the stock 7.5's.
Your current rear wheels are 15mm closer to the strut, and 11mm closer to the fender lip that the stock 10's.
As a reference point, the majority of 3.4L owners who choose to add spacers to factory wheels seem to select the 7mmf/15mm rear combo.
Adding 15mm up front might push you out too far.
Adding a 7mm on the rear would be equivalent to a 17mm on a stock 10", which IMHO, is okay, but I chose 15mm rears.
Here's a pic of 10" rears with 17mm spacers on the Black Carrera, and 7mm/15mm combo on my Cab:

Kevin, the 7mm/15mm set on your Cab looks great. I do also think about spacers and will probably go with the same set-up. I've H&R lowering springs (pic shows car with OEM springs) and stock 18 inch turbo twist wheels. My rear tires are 275s but I think the 7mm/15mm set-up should work fine. What do you think?

hwk,
No problem with 275's.
Porsche went to 285/30's on the same 10" et65 on the 3.6L models when they upsized the front wheels from 7.5 et50 to 8 et52. The Black Carrera above has 285's on 10et65's.
My Cab pic also shows OEM standard suspension (prior to ROW 030 install).

On the post face lift models, the standard wheels up front were either a 17x7x50 or a 18x8x52, so the 18's extend 11mm further out than the 17's. The Carrera wheel is 18x8x50, so this would be 13mm further out. So at least for my car with the 17's up front, I think a 15mm (or 14mm) spacer would be just fine. I definitely notice that the fronts look too far recessed. The attached sort of shows this.
The stock rears are 17x9x55 or 18x10x65, so the 18's extend 3mm further out. Based on this I do not think any more than 5-7mm spacer with the 17's in the rear would be good.
