Default offset/fitment

looking at 19/8.5 & 19/11 for nb 996. Offset 57f/67r. tires would be 235 & 295's . Looking to wisdom of board to see if these wheels would align with fenders and not stick ot. Thanks. JW

The Front wheels: The 8.5" with 57mm offset will have 13mm less clearence on the inner part of the wheel and the outer side will RETRACT by 1mm compared to 8" with 50mm offset.

The Rear wheels: The 11" with 67mm offset will have 15mm less clearence on the inner part of the wheel and the outer side will EXTEND by 11mm compared to 10" with 65mm offset.

They would not stick out too far. However, I am not certain if they won't rub on the inside. I am "guessing" that they will not rub, but maybe someone else here can confirm this.

Tim.....Why would he have a 8.5" rim with an offset of 50 as comparison? Don't you mean 8"???

FYI....your math is correct but the 8.5et50 has got to be a typo.

Dell you are correct. I meant to type 8" with 50mm offset. Edited and corrected original post.

Good catch. Thanks for watching my back!

Well, your factory offset on 8" and 10" wheels are 50 and 65 respectively. Personally I find that about 7mm too "in". I added spacers to my 996CAB to get another 5mm dialed out of my wheels. I went with the 5mm spacers since the Factory Porsche spacers come in 5mm and 17mm. The 17mm are used for the wide-body cars when running narrow body wheels like the sport technos.

If I was to order a custom offset wheel so I didn't have to have to run spacers I would get the following:
8.5" et40 for the front
11" et63 for the rear

Those are the EXACT sizes of the wheels on my GT3 and IMHO are the perfect size wheel for accomodating 235-245 rubber in the front and 295-315 rubber in the rear as well as filling out the wheel well properly and don't look to far "in" yet don't sit outside the well.

However, if you wanted to stay 8" and 10" I would order the following:
8" with an offset between 40-43.
10" with an offeset between 55-58.

Dell, My Champion RG5's (18") on my C2 are in the GT3 sizes and offsets you mention above. I am getting ready to order new rubber for the car and I was going to go with 245f/295r. However, if 315's will fit I may wedge those on the car.

Are you sure that 315/30-18's will work on a NB 996?

We just had this long discussion over on the GT3 forum and the Racing/DE forum. As long as you are running 30 series rubber you are within 2% of the RD of the OEM size as well there is not a significant increase in size either between the 295 adn 315.

Here are the results of my research on the tires I am putting on (Nitto NT01 315/30/18) and compared to the OEM rubber as well as popular choices for the car:

Michelen PS2's currently on the car:
ID-->25.00 Width-->11.90 Rev/Mile-->832

MPSC (non-shaved):
ID-->25.20 Width-->12.10 Rev/Mile-->833

Nitto 275/35:
ID-->25.55 Width-->10.91 Rev/Mile-->813

Nitto 315/30:
ID-->25.35 Width-->12.60 Rev/Mile-->819

ID=Inflated Diameter

OK...I have 19" 997 Sport Designs....they are 19x11 et 67 and 19x8 et57....I used a 15mm spacer on the front making them 19x8 and et42....those are almost exactly the 996 GT3 specs but in 19s...No rubbing and they fir INSIDE the fenders front and rear....
