I have a 1999 996 3.4l, I would like to put it on the track what can I do to the engine for it to be stronger and more reliable at a reasonable price. Or is it cheaper to run till it blows them get another one... The car will be used just for the track.

how many miles...? you need to give us a little more info on what you alrady have etc....... your question is too vague for specific answer.........

aside from that..... supercharging your car will ultimately get you to the power desired you want.... all the bolt on's and chip will only yield so much and will be expensive..... just save up for your supercharger and you're all set... but if you are serious about ONLY tracking your car, i say wheels suspension and performance driving course........

The question soley deals with the engine, so I would venture an answer of: nothing. Just make sure that you always have plenty of clean oil in there, change it frequently (high RPM track use is much tougher than tooling down the highway at 90 KPH) and allow then engine to warm up nicely before ragging the crap out of it.

It's probably all the other stuff (suspension, tires, brakes) that you'll be having to spend maintenance money on anyway. These engines are built tough, for exactly this kind of use.

Have fun!

Michael
