Exactly. Warranty is nice but eventually you won't be able to own a 996 with a warranty. I have an 88 911 (no warranty) and wouldn't let go of it for the world. I do most of my own work though. When I wanted something more modern, I chose a 99 996 without a warranty. I've been very lucky so far but figure I could almost install another motor with the money I saved.

if you or your after market warranty pay for it.
yes, engine has porsche warranty for 2 years.

if paid by CPO, no addtional warranty.
