I got a check engine light on my 1999 C2 Cab, so I used an Actron CP-9135 code reader and got P0442, which the code reader translates as "Emission Control System leak (small)."

The handy code list on Renntech.org translates it as "P0442 Fuel Tank Ventilation System (Micro-leak) - Below Lower Limit."

Is that OBD-II speak for a loose gas cap? Or could it be one of 100 things?

Is it something I should stop driving for?

u can keep driving. sounds like a louse fuel tank cap.

could be a loose gas cap that is one thing that could casue that fault

My guess is either loosed gas cap, the seal on the cap is bad or the charcoal canister is bad.

I would erase it (the code) and carefully re apply the gas cap and see if it comes back on.

Maurice, I'll try the clear and tighten approach. I intend to drive to Truro and back over the weekend, so that's a good test run.
