I paid $74K for an '03 C4S in Summer '05 with 10K mi, CPOed. Original sticker was more than $100K. I drive it maybe 15 days a year and 2500 mi because I'm overseas most of the time. I was looking at CPO cars at the time and they ranged from low 60s to high 70s. The low 60s did not have many/desirable options and had high mileage. I'd say your car would go for low 70s if you get a dealer to CPO it for the buyer.

A boy's gotta have his toys. If I saw your car when I was purchasing mine, I would seriously be interested. Atlas Grey was my first choice of color, and it's rare on the 996 C4S. It is a buyer's market for the 996, but the C4S is not a 'regular' 996 and I would easily pay a premium for a car with the right color/options.

I couldn't agree more - I PM'd Steve to express my exact sentiments on his post. This is a very personal decision. Whether I'm done with Porsche or not is completely unclear to me. The car is awesome, incredible, etc. Owning and driving it is just not giving me the satisfaction I need - not sure any car can do that at this point, but that's my issue. I'm going to carefully consider my decision, then move forward. If I decide to sell, I'll place ads in Autoweek and Panorama. I may wait til Spring or put feelers out to see what it will fetch. I really appreciate the input on this - I know that P-car owners are very passionate about their cars, and I seem to have lost it -- at least for now.

Phil - Best of luck on your decision. It appears that you have a great car in excellent condition, and if you should decide to sell, your car should fetch a premium price in the Spring.

Ok, if you are going to sell it, I WOULD NOT go any lower than $70k. Otherwise, keep it!!!

Can't disagree - the car's worth more than that to the buyer who wants a perfect '04 Atlas C4S which isn't even broken in yet!!

If it were me? I would place an ad, list it for $75k firm, C4S w/ 1800 miles, showroom car, all options, not even broken in yet. Yada yada. Be patient, someone will come along who wants that car, and all the doubters here will eat yer heart out.

Worst case, you don't sell it. Sounds like a win-win to me!!

Thumbs up On the money!

+1. $75k should be a good price for a showroom 996 C4S. Nothing to lose.

Having just bought a 2002 C4S, with 17.5k miles a few months ago for $57k, I know that there is NO differentiation between Retail and Private Party on these cars. Here is KBB on your car. I still say you can go higher if you are patient and wait for spring.

Edit: Matter-of-fact, I have learned that most P-enthusiasts would rather buy PP then Retail for the simple fact that they trust Porsche owners more than Retailers, as well as your CPO WILL transfer. Bro, you got all the advantages going for you, and again, if you are patient, you WILL get $75 to 80k for your CLOSE TO brand new car.

Private party, you will not get more than $70k. Don't look at autotrader prices, they are at least 10 to 15% higher than where the cars trade at.

Also KBB prices are too high by 5-7%, used 996 are not in great demand and they made so many of them. Look at auction prices, apparently 03 cab are in the low 50s and below.

Nice try Gant. Once again you are dellusional. I am part of this P-Car brotherhood in a serious way and would love to have another of my P-Car brothers get the MAX for his car but there is NO WAY in this world anybody is going to pay him RETAIL for that car. And that 74K you are just wishing for is a STARTING point to list at for a dealer NOT an individual. I realize YOU have a serious interest in the values of the C4S as well but you are really out in left field.

This whole situation reminds me of the emotional attachement to real estate in a DEPRECIATING market. What you think something is worth and what it actually sells for is a serious reality check.

Best of luck.

As a reference point, the PCNA website currently has 27 2004 C4S coupes listed nationwide ranging in price from 65-75K. And that is just asking price. Those are going to trade hands for high 50's to high 60's.

So funny you say that Dell. How do you figure when 1st off, it was below KBB, EDMUNDS, AND NADA? Secondly, it was the EXACT car I wanted, I looked for 4 months and it was the nicest, cheapest one I found, and had to fly 1000 miles to retrieve it.

Dell, you are WAY out-of-line!

Not out of line, just getting you back to reality. At this point I can't tell if you are being facetious or just plain stubborn. Either way, this is something the orignal poster has to figure out on his own as well as decide if he is even going to sell his car. Enjoy the banter as I am not going to argue with you any longer........I'm out.
