Those pictures make me miss living in Northern California. This is from the last time I went there:

I only watched the first 3 laps, but IMHO if you take a later apex through turn 11, you can straighten out the esses in 12/13 so much that you will have to grab 4th before you fully track out onto the straight. You still have to turn in a tad on 12 ... and it works best if you turn in just a tad BEFORE you see the right side berm.
Using this technique, I was able to hold off a Lotus Exige in my 996 because he took an earlier apex on 11... the trick was keeping far enough ahead that he didn't realize what I was doing in 11... I'm pretty sure if he knew my line I'd a been toasted ...

Thanks for the info guys. This was my first time on track ever so I was slowing getting more aggressive as the day went on. BTW, my 996 is bone stock with PS2s (225/265). I am itching to get back on track and try out some track tips from Hank Watts.

LOL. whatever high and mighty
what GGR has are the excellent instructors and camaraderie.
i agree with you though regarding the other organizations... great for tracking but i was referring to instructors. trackmasters is laughable and no opinion on HOD. NCRC instructors are great but i would suggest seeking out a porsche owner from the instructor core.

my first event with GGLC will be at the upcoming LS event. i want to maximize track time and GGLC sounds like it's it with only 3 run groups. NCRC is great too... allowing you to run in lower groups.

GGLC is great if you know what you're doing & don't need instruction. Very little rules & regulations, it's all about getting tons of track time (and their prices are by far the lowest). They used to run 2 groups of 25 cars. Now it's 3 groups, but you can run in 2 out of the 3 groups almost all day (which is a little scary when you think about the slowest guys moving up a group and the fastest guys moving down a group...everyone on track with Group B).
The best NASA events are midweek at T-hill. Not many cars, tons of track time, cheap price. But it's an aggressive group, not really for newbs.
