Question what are the best (NO NOISE / DUST) brake pads?

What are the best brake pads....the ones that don't squeek and leave little brake dust?

2nd the Mintex Red Box, but they do have some dust. No squeal. Also consider EBC Green Stuff. Even less dust, but a teensy bit of squeal at times. Much higher friction compound as well. They're both cheap enough to try.

I can't stand the squeel!! Brake dust is second...I have to clean the rims anyways...but squeeling brakes are not acceptable...I don't track...but like great stopping power!

So Mintex is best??
and do the brakepads come with the other parts I need to replace or do I have to order these separate??
Doing the change myself will save me about 400 bucks I guess?

To help against squeal, pick up some anti-squeak packets at the auto parts store to apply to the back of each pad. 2 packets should be enough for all four calipers. They are like $0.99/each.

Yes my vote is for Mintex silver compund as sold by Performance Products. I have used these brake pads on a 944, a 964, and now ill install them on my 2002 996 C4 black Cabriolet. My concern was to eleminate black brake pad dusting and at the same time have reasonable brake performance with no noise. Mintex delivered for me.

Thanks all....great post for a newb. I will remember when I need brakes.

I too have squel at low speed...exactly as described above when coming to a stop light or stop sign...it squeels. What's funny is people associate the noise to a "crappy" car...so I get weird looks.

I admit, I used to think like that until I started modding my BMW etc..and found out even high end cars squeel...even more so with race pads or BBK etc...

Mintex it is!

For what purpose? Street or Track?

For track, sorry you won't get a good quiet and low dust pad. For the street, switch to AXXIS pads. They are extremely quiet and have no where near the dust of the OEM pads. As a warning, these are not race pads. They will work well on the street and for Auto-X events. They have very high cold friction so they work well even cold, but they will have noticeable fade if you run them hard in DEs.

02 Carrera -
Which AXXIS pads are you referring to? Metal Masters? Thats the only kind that I could see on-line that make both front and rears applications.
