Default Winter Storage

My car will be spending some quality time in the garage during the winter, as I don't plan on using it much with snow, ice or gravel on the roads. I will keep the battery trickle charged. I know the car should be kept with a full tank of gas - should anything be added to it to keep condensation out of the fuel system, ie. Dry Gas or some Porsche-specific product?

And please, no flames about not using it all winter!

Thanks!

You're welcome. I also posted the links on the RTR forum if you need them later.

I've seen Stabil (from Gold Eagle) mentioned as the gas additive to use. I've not had experience with it. Has anyone used it? Is it safe/recommended for Porsche engines? If so, I'm assuming 1 oz per 2 1/2 gallons is the recommended "dose."

Hey Phil - while your P-car is in "dry dock" maybe you can get rid of the "pumpkin" side markers.

I now have clear side markers - the avatar's not been updated, but I will when the damn rain moves out.

Phil, you are welcome. I just "borrowed" a few pixels from your headlights!

One question (and probabably a dumb one) - When the battery maintainer is connected through the lighter, what's the best way to have the power cord exit the car without having to leave the door open? Do you just leave the window open and thread the cord through? What if I plan to cover the car - I obviously don't want the surface scratched by the exiting cord.

Thanks!!

When I've got my Porsche cigarette lighter trickle charger plugged in, sometimes a couple of weeks at a time, it exits through the bottom of the door between the door and the door sill. The rubber seal seals around it and I haven't experienced any problem. No scratches either and I also keep my car in the garage and covered.

Regards,
Marc
