Default Wheel Dynamics (on eBay)

Does anyone have experience buying / using Wheel Dynamics rims? I was contemplating the 5 Spoke Lightweight for my 2000 C2.

I currently have 7mm spacers on, so will moving to these 18's cause any problems?

[I'm not really worried about weight, as I'll be using my OEM 17's for track days, this is more for looks.]

Thanks in advance,

Thomas

I wanted to buy the Carrera lightweights from Wheel Dynamics earlier this year for my Boxster. The wheels are slightly heavier than OEM, but still lighter than my turbo twists. They ran out of stock,so I ended buying a different set from them. Carlos is a good guy and I'd definitely buy from him again.

As for the offset, 7mm won't cause any issues.

Hope that helps.

Thomas - the offset 47mm on the rear wheels 18" x 10" is wrong for a narrow body 996. The stock offset for 18" x 10" is 65mm. Those wheels will EXTEND about 3/4" farther out than a 65mm offset wheel. I would be willing to bet that the rear tires will protrude slightly BEYOND the rear fender lip. Personally, I would not put 47mm offset wheels on my car.

Here is a link to a wheel offset calculator. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Listen to Tim on this one. It would be like putting an 18mm spacer on your rear FACTORY offset wheels. OUCH!

Sorry, I didn't click the link. The ones in the auction are not correct.

However, talk to Carlos. He can bring in the proper 65mm offset for your car.

Default Stock offset for an '02 C4S? Snows offset??? THANK YOU.

Hi all,

Thinking about doing the wheel thing. Wheel dynamics seem to have great prices on replicas....and claim to match or exceed OEM. Lots of happy people in the archives with those wheels. Any additional info. is appreciated.

Anyhow, when I'm grabbing wheels....can anyone answer the following?

Normal offset for stock wheels for c4s:

Recomm. offset for 19 for the same car....would it be the same?

Recomm. offset for snow wheels....18's x 8 and 10. thanks so much.

I bought take-off Turbo rims from them and they painted the rims for me too. They're local here in SoCal so I delt with them in person and over the phone. Good guys.

I bought my 19's in my picture from them. They had them custom painted at a good price and Carlos and Rolland were great to deal with. They are a bit heavier, but it sounds like you are using them for the same purpose as me, just to have on in between track days.

I bought 19inch Sport Rims and wheels from them with no issues and they shipped to me here in Germany. Wheels are made in Italy TUV approved but the Sport design are heavy so I use them for day to day since they look so nice but change back to my light 17" if I hit the ring.

JB - the offsets for OEM wheels should be stamped on the outside of the OEM wheel. It is on either side of the valve stem. A "10 65" would indicate 10" wide wheel and 65mm offset, which is standard for a C2 rear wheel. Sorry, I can't recall the C4S stock offset.

As a follow up to my OP, I did buy 5-spoke wheels from WD. I didn't go the eBay route - rather I purchased directly from them. I probably should have gone eBay, just to give them good feedback, but I didn't want to hit 'em with the paypal fee.

The wheels came fast, pre-mounted and balanced. They are on now, and look sweet. Great guys to deal with. I did have to upgrade to hubcentric 7mm spacers in the front due to a wobble, but I am super happy with the wheels.

Click my sig for the pics.
