Default Bose Premium Sound - What does it include?

Hi,

I just purchased an '02 996 Coupe and was fortunate that it included the Bose Premium Sound Package (which I believe was quite a pricy option to add). So, my head unit is a Becker CDR-220 (which I assume also shipped with the stock audio package), so my question is, what does the Bose Premium Package include?

I can see that my door speakers say 'Bose' on them, so I assume they are upgraded, and there seems to be a large (and ovebearingly 'boomy') sub on the parcel shelf that also says 'Bose' on it. Apart from those, what else is extra?

Boomy? I think it sounds pretty good, no complaints. Just fill your changer with Trance or Trip Hop and you're all set.

myrmidon - Conrrats on getting the P-car and Welcome to Rennlist. It is customary for "Newbies" to introduce themselves, tell us a little about their car, and post a couple of pics, 'cuz we LOVE pics!

I am not certain, but I think the Bose Option had a couple more speakers versus the "standard" stereo. I have never heard the standard stereo, but people who have heard it say it is terrible. Some audiophiles here don't like the Bose system and spend $1,500 to $3,000+ to upgrade, which makes no sense to me. But to each his own.

Again, Welcome to Rennlist! Oh, and did I mention that we need pics?

Bose has a subwoofer enclosure w 2 spkrs in the back for coupes. All speakers in door, dash, rear quarter panel are upgraded to Bose speakers which has stronger magnets (neodyn or something it's called). There is an amp for Bose system that is mounted in the front trunk (which DSP HiFi system also has but with less power).

I heard both HIFI and Bose systems in 996. Bose is waay better esp offering a fuller sound with more bass. HIFI isn't terrible but just not very satisfying and no punch.

Option was only $850 I think so it's a pretty good buy. Are you sure you got CDR 220 head unit? I have an 02 with CR 220 with Bose and CD stack.

Apologies for just 'jumping in and asking questions'. So a bit about myself - I am a long time Porsche fan, but first time Porsche owner. I've always wanted a 911, and spent a lot of time researching the changes to the design over the years. Eventually I knew that I wanted an '02-'04 Carerra (with the 'turbo look' lights) and then earlier this week it happened :-)

I currently live in the Seattle, WA area, so with the nonstop rain the last few days, I haven't really had a chance to stretch the legs of the car yet, but that will come. Here are the details:

Model: 2002 911 Carerra
Mileage: 23,000
Color: Silver
Interior: Black
Extras/Options:
- Bose Sound System (I confirmed, I do have the CDR220 deck) and 6-disc changer
- Xenon Headlights
- 18" 'Turbo' Wheels
- Colored-Crest Wheel Caps
- Custom (sport?) Side Skirts

I have attached some pics.

Cheers
Olaf

myrmidon - very nice looking P-car. As the Nut-man said already has the clear side markers. I also noticed you also have the Bumperplugs.

Thanks very much gota911.

Based on your comments though, does it mean that the clear side markers and bumperplugs are aftermarket fits?

(I always thought that the 911 ships with the bumperplugs, and that some people remove them to fit the reg. plate)

Yes, both items are after market fits. The 996 front bumpers came puched with two square holes to hang the license plate. The 997's do not have the pre punched holes.
