Default Odd electrical issue - clock reset

My 996 sat for a week or two, and when I fired her up today it seemed like the battery might be a little low - just a second of hesitation that first turnover. What was odd is I noticed my clock had reset. Pulled ~14v for a bit when driving, then back down, so looks like it charged up. Anyone seen the clock reset like that?

Sounds like your battery is about to go.

It is a 2001, and the battery looks original. I'll have to have them change that out when they put the snow tires on tomorrow.

Due to high current demand of the starter, the battery voltage will drop significantly during start up, particularly if battery is in poor or low charge condition. If this is below the operational voltage of the clock, it would reset as if the battery was disconnected. Once started, the alternator will keep the sytem voltage above 13.4 approx.

Yikes - 5 year old battery - you are living on borrowed time...
