Power Steering Fluid?

Three Wheelin'
Porsche, audi, VW, BMW, RR, Bentley, and a host of other european cars use a mineral oil based power steering fluid, not the synthetic stuff that is used in most american cars.
The OEM Porsche PS fluid for the 996 is Pentosin CHF 11S. If you have a problem finding the Pentosin brand, then just pop down to your local VW parts counter, and purchase some of the VW branded PS fluid. It is exactly the same thing. The key is that it is green colored.
The other thing you might try is if you just need just a little, and you are on good terms with your Porsche service shop, see if they will just give you some to top off the reservoir. I asked my local shop for a little, and he gave me a can that that was 3/4 full that he had on his bench. He got a bottle of wine for Christmas!
