Finally! A mid rise sissor lift
A mid rise sissor lift has been on my wish list for a long time, the main reason I want a mrsl is because I'm so sick and tired of using floor jacks and jack stands to lift a car up, and lying on the ground with limited room to work on the car.
So I jumped on the recent Greg Smith Equipment group buy, the total including lift gate delivery service came out to be $1400. It arrived on a pallet and was very very heavy, there was no way for me to lift it by myself. I got it off the pallet on my own by using 3 floor jacks to lift the entire lift off the pallet and then pulled the pallet off from underneath and rest the lift on 4 furniture trolleys to move it into position.
I also needed to purchase 5 gallon of hydrualic fluid (AW32 Napa auto parts), the instructions that came with the unit was a total joke! Luckily it was fairly self explanatory.
I built a 4" platform around the lift to accomdate the clearance of the lift, so far so good. I did notice that in order to drop a 993 or 996 motor I do have to cut off one of the cross brace on the lift and reposition the car as far back as the lift's lift arms can handle. Will get to that later....
