Default Wide body 996 vs 997

Guys

I have a 996 C4S and I am wondering if the width of rear is same as 997 C2 or C2S?? I seems the wide body of the 997 is wider than the 996.

I remember reading along the way that the 997 is slightly wider than the 996. I recall it wasn't by much though. An inch or so maybe?

997 (regular and S) is as wide as the 996 Turbo
997 4WD (regular and S) is even 1 inch wider.

This was one of the many things I considered when shopping for my future 911...decided to wait until the Spring....consolidating $$$ ;-).

996 C4S and 996TT width 72" vs 997 C4S width 72.91"

As opposed to a 996 C2 69.7" and 997 Carrera or S at 71.2"

Data can be seen at Edmunds(for old) or Porsche homepage(for new).

The 998 is going to be much wider, with dual rear wheels on each side to accommodate the additional weight of the new "flat 10" engine. Here is a spy photo.
