Question on new Rims?
I don't write in often, but I really have a quesiton I was hoping someone could answer. I found some rims from a guy who had a 2005 C2 (997) with 18x8.5 front and 18x10 rear rims, but what I need to know is will they fit my 2000 C4?
18X8.5 mounted with 225/40VR18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 tires
18X10 mounted with 265/35VR18 Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 tires
They are the standard porsche twist rims, see picture. I called the dealer, they said they weren't sure about the offset, but thought it was good. What do you guys think?
Thanks,
Bob

You really need to know the offsets of the wheels before putting any money down.

Okay not being an aficionado of tires and rims, the guy says the offset is 65 for the rear and 52 for the front. They are not OEM rims. So will they work?

Those look like 996 replica rims and those are the narrow body 996C2/C4 offsets (well, the fronts are in 2mm). You might want at least a 5mm spacer.
The 997 have much more aggressive offsets than the 996 so my guess is if those were on a 997, the owner was was using some serious spacers.

Okay so based on all of your feedback I'm probably going to take them. The guy wants $700 for the set of 4 with relatively new blizzaks, but they have some curb rash. He indicated he bought them off of tirerack.com. But he had no idea about the use of spacers. He seems to know even less about the car than I do. How can I go wrong for that amount.
Thanks for everyone's help.

as long as they are 18 inchers with 52F and 65R you will be fine. The price seems reasonable and the condition really shouldn't be too much of a factor if they are just winter use only.

Bolt Pattern: 5-130
18x8.5 Front $259 each Availability: In Stock

I picked up the tires and I'm fairly happy. The have significant curb rash on three of the rims, but the tires are in great condition. They are the Sport Edition Cup 3s from tirerack.com. So I guess it was a bargin, it would have been better with less curb rash, but they are winter rims/tires like Dell said.
Thanks for all the help.

Here's an easy and inexpensive way to get rid of the road rash: http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext43.shtml
I did this to my BBS CH's on my previous car and had great success.

Thanks! Just a suggestion - DO NOT do this with the wheels on the car. The paint will be everywhere and you will regret it. Take the wheels off and make sure you have at least 24-48 hour window that you can use to refinish the wheels. You don't want to rush this job.
