Default Odometer Woes...

Hey all -

long time no post. Haven't had any issues with my 99' Cab until now. I started my car up after sitting 1 week and i found my odometer reading 999,999 kms and everything else in centigrade. I took it to my specialist right away and they had no idea. They reset the system to miles, but now my system reads 599,999 miles (eveything else back to fahrenheit). I sent my cluster into a VDO specialty shop and when plugged into their test equiptment the mileage shows accuratley. What happened here? The trip meter is adding up miles, but the odo stays at 599,999mi.

TIA

Sounds like a fault. I'd change out the speedo/odo and have a certified reading of your previous mileage in the maintenance book.

FIRST let me state that i HAVE posted here before AND on many other forums. SECOND i didnt think this was imperative, I am stuck in a tough situation (car not driveable!) and was just trying to get my point across. From my experience its either too much OT and not enough "to the point," so I try to cut my posts down. I apologize as this obviously offended you. Just trying to be precise I will try and change this in the future.

1999 996 Cabriolet 6/sp, no updrages as of yet. Bridgestone S03s. Will try and post more pics later as I am trying to run out the door. Thank you to Tool Pants and jury_ca for your help

Easy there trigger. Not sure who pissed in your cheerios but you need to relax. It was said in jest and something that is done to the newbs, ESPECIALLY to those with a request on post number 1. And had you posted before your post total would NOT read 1.

My apologies if you didn't have the ability to take a little harmless hazing.

ps. what in the world does posting on other's forums have to do with anything?

We all welcome Newbies. We just like to get them to introduce themselves and tell us a little about their P-cars and maybe post a pic or two. It is interesting to see who "takes offense" and who "rolls with the puches" in the early posts. Welcome to the Porsche Phunny Pharm.

BTW - nice looking Cab. Is it Orient Red or Arena Red?

lol you misunderstood - no one 'pissed in my cheerios'. however, i did not take what you said in jest. even this post seems a bit challenging. I may have posted under a different name here previously, but i have posted here. sorry for the assumption. no worries - i am totally not upset, just defending myself

now, lets forget about it - i apologize. ok? im still stuck here! my arena red baby sits...
