Close Call
Very close call to a tragic accident. Saturday morning, jumped on the express way driving 70mph in fast lane. As I move to next lane to pass up the SUV in front of me, I notice this object heading straight for my windshield. This object was a full size truck tire which must have fallen off a truck from the opposite side of the expressway. I just remember seeing it bounce once in the fast lane, then shoot like a rocket at me. I made the quick decision to move right and then left to correct the car. I have to say it handled beautifully. Just perfect. Almost made the mistake of hitting the brakes for a second, which made the tires screech. Lucky day! Thought I would share my close call.

My 996 has the been the first "nice" car I have owned. I have had to dodge more debris in the road than any other of the cars I did not care about. Its like it knows I am paranoid about screwing up my car. For instance, the other day, I was going down the highway and a truck carrying house paint spilled onto the highway. It had splattered or misted all over the car, especially around the windshield and side skirts. I knew I couldnt do anything about or try to get the guys insurance because he was an illegal alien I was sure of, he probably didnt speak English, so I am stuck to get the crap off. I feel ya'

Happy to hear you're okay. Is it just me or do you think that safety inspections on trucks seem to have gotten more lax? I'm constantly ******* chunks of retreads that have come off trucks...very dangerous if you clip one at highway speed.
