Previous Car and Next Car?

Last - 1994 C2 Cab
Current - 2002 C4S
Next - Several possibilities: 993 Targa, Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, M5, S4 Avant, E55, the list goes on. I may never make up my mind, so I may be buried in the C4S....

1. 04' Infiniti G35 6MT Coupe
2. Most likely a 997 GT3 (within a year and a half)
I recently drove a few cars thinking about upgrading:
1. 04' 40th AN Jahre edition. The car I drove had a weak engine (especially for an X51). Being basically the same car, just 2 years newer didn't make it feel like an upgrade. I also loved these cars, but now that I own a 996 I would go to something a little more different.
2. 06' 997 Carrera S. I posted my impressions on the 997 board. It doesn't feel liek a big step up in power. Ride was definitely better, but it didn't handle as good as my ROW M030. I do like the gauges and seats, just not the door panels and center console. So basically it too did not seem like a big step up.
3. 04' GT3. I drove one recently expecting to buy the car that day, but didn't. I was really surprised that the car I drove rode softer and had more body roll than my ROW M030. I don't know the sway bar settings, but I now can't understand someone complaigning about these cars riding rough. I was also surprised about the lack of midrange power from 3-6000 rpms and the tall gearing versus a regular Carrera. It does pull strong from 6500 up, just not as much the rest of the time. It is the first Porsche with Variocam I have driven that actually feels like a Honda VTEC engine. I know if I got one of these cars as my next ride, I would immediately be changing the suspension and re-gearing the transmission. Basically spending a lot of money to fix what I would have wanted from the start. I would also want something better than the basic 4-speaker radio it comes with.
I think the 997 GT3 will be the closest to my goal. Not only does it get more peak power over the 996 GT3, but it is supposed to have better mid-range. It is expected with its PASM to have both a reasonable street ride and a competant track balance. The transmission gearing has been shortened to make more use of the engine. I can get more of the comforts I would want in a street car including the 9-speaker Sound Plus stereo and Nav. Basically, this car is being represented to have all the things I would have wanted in the 3 cars above. I am just hoping that when I get a chance to drive one it will live up to my expectations. If it does, there will be one parked in my garage.
If it doesn't, I will most likely go with an Audi R8 or a used Gallardo.
